Review by Emma & Leonard
Once upon a time, several weeks ago, two star crossed lovers met
a charming photographer out the front of Metro City. There was an
air of excitement that night, as the clouds hung low, threatening
to drench all who dared venture out.
A lone wanderer, questing for Drum & Bass approached, speaking
of his longing for some well nasty beats. The intrepid trio, erroneously
pointed the poor soul in the wrong direction, for which much heartache
was later felt.
Our crusading heroes were out for a different kind of refrain,
something more soothing to the brain. Instead they went to Endorphin.
The journey began with a courageous ascent of the huge staircase.
Cottontail was stopped by the horrific gatekeeper, demanding proof
of age. As a senior member of the company, she was elated by this
bold request.
Having passed their first trial, the three travelled further into
the lair of the psychedelic beast. After a long and traumatic voyage
through the extensive tunnels that formed the entrance, they emerged,
triumphantly into the great hall, having gained much wisdom from
the experience.
Echoes of the beast could be heard from afar, yet within the vast
cavern the sounds were much more terrifying. Flares of bass licked
at the noble adventurers, as many worshipers writhed on the floor
before the anonymous Metro's resident. Psi-Fact exclaimed with joy,
"These tunes are bloody nice
..fair maiden", to which
Cottontail returned, "Indeed they are".
The keen eyed photographer continued his search for the perfect
image as the lovers joined new companions to explore the expanses
of the debaucherous den. Bravely, the party climbed the formidable
inner staircase. At its apex, the courageous company were delighted
to find a utopia, bursting with luscious herbal delights, heavenly
juices and wise healers practising their ancient art.
Along with many other weary travellers, the group sat and reminisced
of adventures past, friends long forgotten and other weird shit.
Presently, the cavern below errupted with a great wave of applause
as He graced the followers with his presence.
As the first frequencies emerged from the depths of the bass bins,
the friends made their way to the dancefloor, eager to partake in
the ensuing hedonism. Scans swept the crowd as a giant screen above
Endorphin's head burst into life with trippy visuals.
Psi-Fact surveyed the scene. "Not to bag this dude, but how
you can start a track with a nice phat acid line and end up in fairy
land with piano lines and saxes and pretty vocals is beyond me."
He turned around but Cottontail had already bounced onto the floor.
"Its just not god damn trippy enough to play at a hippie shindig",
he muttered to himself.
He made his way closer to the seething throng. Two jesters danced
and performed before their master. Using various instruments of
amusment, political satire, stilts and costumes, the pair both delighted
and confronted the swarm of dancers.
The masses danced and played for the duration of the performance
and begged for an encore to which Endorphin happily complied. He
was followed by PsyBaba and Martian intricately weaving corrosive
frequencies for the now dwindling crowd.
"Nice", mused Psi-Fact. "Finally something to mess
with my head. I was in dire need of some absolutely frying sounds",
to which Cottontail said, "I liked the Neighbours remix!"
Psi-Fact did not reply.
As the onslaught of psychedelia progressed, the fearless Flaming
Butterflies emerged fresh from the coccoon, onto the stage. The
audience marvelled at the skill and general coolness of their performance.
The visual stimuli continued with trippy UV art created live on
stage.
Tired and content, the lovers and their friends left the cavern.
Outside the Gods roared their thunderous approval in form of a spectacular
lightning storm. The company watched, mesmerised by the heavenly
display, until it was time to say their farewells and depart.
Oh yeah, and they all lived happily ever after
.
