In the news...

10.08.03

Its a whats new section and if you look at the last date you might think it has been a LONG while before anything has been new!
As you can see at the number of events up on the site this is certainly not the case...

Just wanted to say how happy I was to see many people I had not seen for such a long time at the ADAM FREELAND gig a few weeks back. Within this scene there comes a time for most when they have to take a back seat from the madness so people I once use to see just are not around so much. Well these faces came out of hiding for this event and it really was great to catch up!

Many more events on the way and warmer days too as we approach Spring.

See you all soon.

Duncan.

Well I will tell you whats new, for a start its been a long time since I have updated this section!
An interesting year indeed for all of you in clubland and for us here at ravephotography.com

Photographing over in Ibiza was a good laugh and you can read some of the diary entries about that by clicking here.
Photographing in Perth has been as fun as ever and it remains one of my favorite places on the planet to party when it comes to the dance scene we have here.

The end of the year approaches and the gigs just don't stop coming. Last week around this time I was reuturning home from Science Fiction Summer Sound System which proved to be a hell of a good gig and with a new location. Big shout out the time spent in production on this one. The rooms looked bloody amazing and indeed its the lead shot to the photographs for this event.

If I do not find the time to write in here before Christmas I wish you all a good time and the happiest of New Years wherever it is you may end up.

Cheers,

duncan.

Ravephotography.com printed exhibition.

Thats the main point on my agender today. I was lost for words at the positive response to the opening of Ravephotography.com fist printed exhibit. I believe the numbers for the day/evening circled up around the 400 mark which had the Buddhabar bursting at the seams, especially around the 6pm mark when things were reaching their peek.

I would like to put out a big thankyou to a number of people:

  • First, Marcus of the Buddhabar who encouraged me to set up their first official exhibit. Without his pushing and shoving in the way of phone calls and help it may not have happened for another year!
  • To the djs. Luke Notley, Dan Stinton, Puff and Declan. Thanks so much for giving your support. The night without you playing would not have been the same. The positive comments were many.
  • To Jay Scott and Eboney as well as my sister Tori who helped hang the photographs for the exhibit. Without them you would have been staring at blank walls at 4pm!!
  • To Lucky Luke who deals with the tricker code on the web site and makes sure the site stays running 24/7 or close to it!
  • Lastly and certainly not least, to all the people who came to the exhibit and made it the opening what it was.

The exhibit is up for four weeks in total: From the 5th of May to the 5th of June so if you could not make it then please drop by when you can. There were many amusing events on the opening night but maybe one of the most amusing was one of the rsvp messages I received before I even got to the exhibition.

It read:

Duncan,

What city is this show in? Denver, Dallas, Detroit? Please let me know...

Good on ya Matt, on my mail out he was not to know that we are mainly based in Australia. Its also good to know we have electronic music fans all over the world. Still, it has inspired us here at ravephotography.com for our upcoming compeition....

God bless America my friends and this has got us thinking about our new competition for Paul Van Dyk!
Expect more on this by lunch time today (Tuesday). With ticket winners announced by evening on the same day!
Its a competition like no other one we have run and all I can tell you at this stage is that it involves George Bush. (Probably without is knowledge)

Cheers all,

Duncan.

A number of things...first shall we talk about how fast time flys!

Still hoping to implement many new things on the site, its just a issue of time and the lack there of it..The search engine is working in the background, just a matter of making it public!

What can I say about Lamb on Saturday night...It easily rates in the top five events I have ever seen. I was blown away at their stage presence, sound and voice..Also captured some magic images, I hope you agree.

Many events on the way in the next coming months one of which is ravephotography.com exhibit on May 5th!

Stay tuned.

Hello all. Whats new? Well I am sure you can see some of the site changes for yourself but incase you haven't...
Profiles have begun with a look at clubbing American style, we are a new event reviewer Naz who will be reviewing events in the future and soon we have some ticket giveaways for 2 Tribes and Delirious. Its all good!

In my own news I have been having a rather lovely time For the last 5 weeks or so entertaining friends from the UK and America. Its been pretty hard partying in Margaret River and on Rottnest but hey, someone's got to do it.

January is always a good time to kick back and the break was much needed.

The next big gig I will be at is 2 Tribes to seeya there!

duncan.

PS hope you all enjoyed the big day out. I included the site photograph below as I think it is one of my favourite stage related photographs I have ever taken..

PPSS Most of you now know that Luke is on board taking care of a lot of the technical aspects of the site. Just like to say thanks again and the guy is a damn genius. He will be bringing a brill search engine to ravephotography.com very soon so watch out for it on the home page! (cheers Lucky Luke...)

And welcome to 2002. I swear to god days did not pass be by this quick when I was ten but we won't get into all that "when I was a lad stuff..."

12 Midnight at a dance party to be a rather strange occurrence. I cannot speak for the other rooms at Scifi but I know in the main room that there was not even a countdown! I am not sure what conclusions to draw from this. I could go on and write a thesis on how clubbers might not conform to the usual codes placed upon us by society and for this reason chose not to go mad at midnight but instead chose to go mad between midnight and twelve noon the next day....but then again maybe someone just forgot...

In any case I wish you all the happiest new year and look forward to what looks set to be a rather packed couple of months ahead.

Cheers,

Duncan.

Yes its been a long time coming and here it finally is, the new ravepotography.com!

Lets start off by talking about whats new:

  • thumbnails - finally after caving to pressure the entire events section has thumbnails
  • industry news - still under construction this will be a section where promoters can post their news
  • event reviews - posted via the people who visit this site so get them in and you could win prizes
  • profiles -will contain interviews with some of the djs that visit our fair shores and well as locals

Understand that this site is still in the development stages. All feedback is appreciated and essential to work the bugs out!

I will shamelessly say that this site has been designed to be browsed using Internet Explorer and best results will be obtained from using it.
